Biography :: Historic Comments!


Mrs. Yollis' class just completed a unit on biographies.
A biography is the story of a person's life. Each informational text report introduce the class to an individual who made a significant contribution to our world!

Artists, inventors, founding fathers, civil rights leaders,
entrepreneurs, inventors,
aviators, astronauts, and pioneers in many fields 
were among the amazing historical figures about whom we studied!


Here are some photos of the dioramas and artifacts. 













Historical figures, by next Wednesday, please leave a comment for one of the historical figures you met.   ;-)

She brought a hedgehog and a gopher snake. Wildlife Experience is a non-profit wildlife education organization that brings native and exotic animals to schools and teaches children about the importance of our natural world. Order of Operations, It Matters!

We are learning about Order of Operations ! Order matters if you want the right answer!   For example: IF you solve in order from left to right you get this answer:    $10 - 2 x  $4  = $32   That would mean that you walked into a store with $10, bought 2 items for $4, and left with $32! NO!    $10 - (2 x  $4)  = ?  $10 - $8 = $2 You walked into a store with $10. You bought 2 items costing $4 each. You left with $2.  YES! School's Out For Summer!

Today was the last day of school!  Yesterday, we had an end-of-the-year pizza party!  We had fun signing yearbooks. Photo by Tabitha's mom Everyone played a bucket toss game! Today, we continued to sign yearbooks. Look at the line for Coach Felicity! We celebrated an incredible literacy milestone. The class read 12 million words this year!  Way to go! Photo by Andrea Testa That's right, 12,000,000 words!   But, like all good things...they must come to an end.  When the final grain of sand fell through the hour glass, it was time to say goodbye. A final group hug before we departed for our summer vacations! It has been my pleasure to be on this learning journey with you!  I look forward to seeing you in the fall!
